Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce Tortellini with Applewood Bacon Bits (Budget Friendly)

·

NEWS FLASH, I’M BROOOOOOOKE AS HELL!!!

This is most certainly going to be a comfort on a dime recipe, as everything here was roughly 10-$12ish dollars in total from the store and yields 2 of these portions (at least the tortellini, and the creamy garlic butter sauce), but I had some questionable looking applewood bacon and spinach left in my refrigerator… If I have any health problems, it was from that, not this dish.

Hope you enjoy!

Macronutrients:

  • Calories (Per Bowl): 460 ~ 680
    • Really depends on the amount of heavy cream, parmesan cheese, and bacon. In all honesty, half of the calories come from the tortellini
  • Protein: 19 ~ 25 grams
  • Fat: 15 ~ 20 grams
    • Fat mainly comes from the heavy cream, butter, and milk
  • Carbs: 30 ~ 43
    • Mainly from the tortellini

Estimated Time:

10 ~ 20 minutes

Ingredients:
Tortellini

  • Giovanni Rana Tortellini Pack (I got the Cheese Lovers)
    • As much as you want from the package
  • 3 Applewood Bacon Strips
  • 1/4 cup Spinach
  • Salt
    • To taste

Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1/4 stick butter
  • 2-3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp AP flour
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/4 Heavy Cream
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
    • As much as you want
  • Salt and pepper
    • To taste
  • Dried Italian herbs (optional)
  • 1 tsp Olive oil

Tips:

  • Not gonna lie, I don’t have any tips for this one. It’s kinda straight forward

Steps:

Tortellini and Bacon Bits

  • Step 1: In a pan set to medium, place in 3 pieces of applewood bacon, and cook until both sides are crispy. Transfer bacon to a paper towel when done
  • Step 2: In a medium sized pot filled filled with water half way with a couple pinches of salt, turn the heat to medium and cook the tortellini as said on the instructions
  • Step 3: Half way when the tortellini is finished, add in your spinach. Cook until the spinach softened, and the tortellini is done. Strain

Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce

  • Step 1: In a medium pan, melt butter (and olive oil) over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute or until fragrant.
  • Step 2: Stir flour, whisk for 30 seconds to make a smooth paste
  • Step 3: Slowly whisk in milk, then heavy cream. Simmer for around 3-5 minutes stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Step 4: Lower the heat and stir in parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and herbs if desired.
  • Step 5: Add in your tortellini, spinach, and some crumbles of your bacon. Toss it well, and serve! Hope you enjoy!
