Crave-worthy Cheeseburger Eggrolls

·

This is quite literally one of the best meal-prep recipes I’ve ever consistently made. It’s low calorie (on average per cheeseburger roll), low budget, very tasty, and a great thing to eat after the gym. I use 96% lean ground beef that’s like 140 calories per serving (and there’s 4 servings, each 4 ounces)

Macronutrients (Per Cheeseburger roll):

  • Calories: 120 – 300 (can vary based on the type of ground beef, cheese, and cooking method you use. By far the cooking method impacts this the most for calories like deep fry vs baking, then ground beef type, and finally cheese)
  • Protein: 14-16 grams
  • Fat: 6 – 19 grams (same thing with the calories, it varies based off those 3 things)
  • Carbs: 8 – 12 grams

Ingredients:

  • 1 Serving of Ground beef
  • Your selection of cheese
  • Seasonings for onion and ground beef (I used salt and pepper for the onions to keep it simple. For ground beef, I used garlic powder, salt, pepper, beef bouillon, paprika, MSG )
  • Eggroll Wrappers
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Crisp
  • Cooking oil (vegetable, canola, etc.)

Tips:

  • Cheese can be whatever you want, but my recommendation is having cheese that can melt. Shredded, Italian cheese blend, cheddar, mozzarella, etc., makes it better. In addition, you want it to be shredded if you can. If you can’t and they’re like sliced cheese packets, you can break them into pieces and use that instead.
  • If you know how to make caramelized onions, you can do that instead and I recommend that even more. The recipe here is mainly meant for a more easy process.

Steps:

  • Step 1: Slice your onions and set your pan to medium. Once it gets hot, put in a little bit of cooking oil and throw in your onions.
  • Step 2: Season your onions with a little bit of salt and pepper, and cook until they’re more soft and a little translucent. After that, set them aside in a bowl.
  • Step 3: In the same pan, place in your ground beef and begin to break them apart (as if you were making tacos). Once they’re well separated, season your ground beef with your selected seasonings. Cook until all pieces are brown.
  • Step 4: Turn your pan off and place in your chili crisp. Try to cover all pieces in it.
  • Step 5: Take out your eggroll wrappers and follow the instructions on how to cook them. If you’re still unclear, a air and deep frying method typically is around 375°F and flip them once they’re golden brown on one side. Baking is a little different and I haven’t used that method yet. It’s better to search a video and have them explain it for you. I hope you enjoy!
