Quick and Easy Shepard’s Pie

Jump to Recipe

Who woulda thought, we still have food at home

Shepard’s pie might be the most quickest and easiest thing to make, and extremely macro-friendly. Best part, by far the cheapest thing I’ve made that contains meat of some kind.

How to make Quick and Easy Shepard’s Pie:

Ingredients :

Meat and Seasonings

  • 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worchester sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup frozen vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 packet “Oh Puree!” mashed potatoes mix
  • 1 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups beef broth/stock

Tips:

  • For the mashed potato mix, I recommend replacing the water with milk/heavy cream and add 1/4 cup of melted butter

Steps:

  • Step 1: In a pan over medium heat, add in oil and mince up the ground beef. Season to taste and cook until 80% cooked through.
  • Step 2: Toss in frozen vegetables, beef broth, and the sauces. Stir until well combined, and cover (if possible) and let simmer over medium-low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Step 3: Add in cornstarch and stir until the sauce has thickened. Transfer the contents to a baking dish and layer it neatly, and apply cheese on top.
  • Step 4: Make the “Oh Puree!” according to the instructions on the package. Then, evenly spread the mashed potatoes on top of the meat
  • Step 5: Bake the dish at 350°F for 20 minutes, then repeatedly check every 4-5 minutes until the mashed potatoes start to become golden brown at the peaks, and the edges start to bubble. Take out the oven, let it cool, and enjoy!
